Born in 1956 in the Canary Islands (Spain), X.A. was educated at the pioneer Eina School of Art & Design of Barcelona, a very avant-garde institution which leaded the city into the forefront of modern European cities booming with art and design. He moved to New York in 1980, where continued studies at the School of Visual Arts and the New York Academy, worked three years in the graphic design studio of Milton Glaser, and participated in many art shows through the East Village as part of the Limbo Lounge group of artists.
Throughout his career, Xano has been a prolific creator of original paintings and prints, and he brings a depth of understanding and conceptual thinking, combined with a diverse richness of visual language, to his highly inventive and individualistic work.
His artwork has been featured in many media, and granted interviews extensively on art & painting. He had one-man shows at Miami, Los Angeles, Tokyo and Barcelona. His work is in many private collections. Xano also is a muralist and architectural consultant for public art projects, with a body of work ranging from sculpture to true fresco projects.
